2020 Village Budget

Village staff have begun drafting the Village's budget for the coming fiscal year, which runs from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020.

All meetings take place at Village Hall, 2500 East Lake Avenue, and are open to the public. Here's the 2020 budget review and adoption schedule; staff reports and other documentation will be added as they become available:

  • 7 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2019 -- Financial overview; Capital Improvements Program (CIP) budget

The Village Board of Trustees heard an overview of the Village Corporate Fund draft budget. As part of the discussion, the board supported maintaining an unassigned cash fund balance in 2020 equal to 35 percent to 45 percent of the current year's total Corporate fund expenditures, up from 30 percent to 40 percent. The board supported using unassigned fund balance to boost the proposed $22.5 million 2020 Capital Improvements Program. And the board affirmed its earlier direction to increase police and fire pension funding in order to stabilize contributions in future years.

The board gave direction to include special appropriations totaling $360,095 in the 2020 Village Budget to four social service agencies

  • 7 p.m. Monday, September 24,  2019 – Operating budget

The Village Board of Trustees heard presentations about the preliminary Glenview Public Library operating fund; the overall Village financial picture; an overview of the Corporate Fund, from which most daily operating costs are funded; reports from each operating department; and proposals for internal service fund spending, which include the Capital Equipment Replacement Fund (CERF), Facilities Repair and Replacement Fund (FRRF), and the Insurance and Risk Fund.

  • 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 -- Capital Improvements Program Open House
  • 7 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2019 – Other budgets

The Village Board of Trustees heard presentations about the updated Corporate Fund, 2019 Tax Levy, Water and Sanitary Sewer rates, Permanent Fund and TIF funds, the updated Capital Improvement Program (CIP), elected officials compensation and the state of Illinois proposal to consolidate public safety pensions.
